The Order Journey for Clothing Buyers Working with a Bangladesh Factory
Most delays and misunderstandings in garment buying come from not knowing where an order stands. Our answer is a fixed journey with named stages, each one closed in writing before the next begins. Below is exactly how an order runs at Siatex Bangladesh, what we do at each stage, and the few things we ask from you along the way.
1. Send Your Inquiry with the Style Details
Everything starts with your inquiry - an email, the contact form, or a basket of products sent through this site. The more of the style picture you can give us at this point, the sharper everything downstream becomes. If some details are not settled yet, send what you have: our merchandisers work with developing styles every day and will tell you plainly what is still needed.
What helps us most at inquiry stage:
- The garment type and style - a tech pack, a sketch, or photographs of a reference garment
- Quantity per colour and per style, even as a working range
- Fabric type and weight if you know them, or the hand feel you are aiming for
- The size range and the colours you plan to run
- Any decoration - printing, embroidery, or your own label and branding
- Where the goods are going, so shipment can be planned from the start
2. Quotation Built Around Your Specification
With the specification in hand, our costing team builds the price around your order rather than around a catalogue. Fabric and trims are priced first, then the making of the garment, the decoration, and the packing. Quantity matters honestly here: a style spread across more pieces carries its development and setup more lightly than a short run, and we show that in the price rather than hiding it.
Your quotation comes back with the terms it runs on, including how payment is staged - the full picture is on our payment terms page. If the price needs to move, this is the stage to adjust the specification: a fabric choice, a decoration method, or a quantity change can be weighed openly, line by line, before anything is committed.
So there are no surprises later, the quotation is built to cover the whole order:
- Fabric and trims, at the weight and quality your specification calls for
- Cutting and making of the garment, in your size range
- Decoration - printing, embroidery, or applique - by the method agreed
- Your labels, tags, and packing, folded and cartoned to your instruction
- The order prepared for shipment to your destination market
What we will not do is quote a bare making price and let the rest surface stage by stage. A quotation you can plan a programme on has to be the whole picture from the start, and if any element of your specification is still open, we say so on the quotation rather than pricing it silently one way or the other.
3. Sampling - the Style Made Real Before Bulk
Before bulk production is even discussed, the style is made as a sample. Development samples turn your tech pack or reference into a real garment you can hold, fit, and judge. Where the sample shows something you want changed - a fit point, a colour, a trim - it is changed and remade, because a sample round is far cheaper than a correction in bulk.
Once the style is right, a pre-production sample is made in the actual bulk fabric and trims, exactly as the order will run. The full sampling route, including what to send us, is set out on the sampling process page. Sampling is also where your labels, tags, and packing are settled, so nothing about the finished garment is left undecided.
Keep your approved sample when it comes back to you. It is the physical half of the order contract: if a bulk delivery is ever questioned, the garment in your hand and its twin on our sample rail settle the question faster than any photograph. Buyers running private label clothing programmes often keep a sealed counter-sample for exactly this reason, and we encourage it.
4. Your Approval Locks the Order
Nothing goes into bulk production on a nod. When the pre-production sample meets your approval, the order is confirmed in writing, in one confirmed record:
- Styles.
- Quantities.
- Colours.
- Sizes.
- Price.
- The payment schedule.
- The delivery window.
That document is what the factory floor works from, and it is what protects you - if a question ever arises later, the confirmed order and the approved sample are the reference.
This is also the moment the order joins the production plan. Fabric and trims are booked against it, floor time is reserved, and your merchandiser becomes the single contact who follows the order from this point to the final carton.
5. Production on the Factory Floor
Production runs under our own roof in Dhaka: fabric inspection and cutting first, then sewing lines, then finishing - trimming, checking, pressing, and folding. Because cutting, sewing, and finishing sit in one building under one team, a question raised on the sewing line reaches the people who cut the cloth the same day, not through a chain of subcontractors.
Through production your merchandiser keeps you posted on the stages that matter:
- Fabric in house.
- Cutting started.
- Sewing under way.
- Finishing and packing reached.
You will not need to chase for news, and if anything on the floor threatens the delivery window, you hear it from us early, with the plan to recover it - not at the end, as a surprise.
Both sides of our production run through this same stage: the knitwear programmes - t-shirts, polo shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies - that are the core of the factory, and the woven lines behind them. Custom garment orders with printing or embroidery pass through the decoration tables between sewing and finishing, so a printed private label order and a plain bulk order follow one route, with the same checks waiting for both at the end of the line.
6. Inspection, Packing, and Shipment
Finished garments are checked as they come off the lines and again at packing. You are welcome to inspect before shipment - your own team or an inspection service you appoint - and most buyers on larger programmes do. Our compliance and quality page explains how checking is organised on the floor and at the packing table.
Goods are packed to your instruction:
- Your polybags.
- Your cartons.
- Your marks.
And the shipment documents are prepared to match the order exactly. Then the cartons leave for your destination, with the document set following the route your terms set. When the goods sail, the journey that began with your inquiry closes with the full record in your hands.
Ordering Clothing from Bangladesh, Wherever Your Market Is
The journey above does not change with the market - but the emphasis does. These are the points buyers in our main markets raise most often when they run orders through this route.
Ordering for the USA - Volume Programmes Built on Repeats
USA buyers tend to run volume: core styles repeated across seasons in private label clothing programmes, where consistency from order to order matters more than novelty. For those programmes the approval stage carries extra weight, because the approved sample becomes the standing standard every repeat is sewn against. Once your route is set, reorders move faster through the early stages - the specification, costing basis, and label setup are already on file.
Ordering for Germany - Own-Label Retail and Document Care
German buyers, often supplying own-label retail, work to tight documentation and presentation standards. The stages buyers lean on hardest are sampling and packing: labels, tags, and carton marks must be exactly as the retail programme specifies, and the paperwork behind each shipment must agree line by line. That discipline is built into the journey above rather than added at the end, which is why German programmes usually settle their packing specification at the approval stage, before bulk begins.
Ordering for Canada - Seasonal Programmes Planned Ahead
Canadian programmes are strongly seasonal, and the calendar drives everything. Buyers who do best on this route bring the inquiry stage forward, so sampling and approval finish well ahead of the selling season and production is not squeezed against it. With the journey mapped from the first message, a winter programme can be costed, sampled, and approved while the previous season is still on the rails - keeping every stage calm instead of rushed.
