Questions Clothing Buyers Ask a Bangladesh Garment Factory
These are the questions buyers put to us most often before and during a first order - on pricing calls, in first emails, and at the factory gate. Each answer is the short, honest version; the pages linked from each one carry the full working detail.
What is your minimum order quantity?
Our minimum is 3,000 pieces per order, with 800 pieces per colour and style within it. Those two numbers are what make an order workable on a production line: enough in each colour and style to cut and sew sensibly, and enough in the order as a whole to hold your place in the production plan. If your programme sits near those numbers, talk to us - the structure of an order often matters as much as its size. The reasoning is set out in full on the MOQ and pricing page.
How is the price of an order worked out?
From the fabric first, then the making:
- Pattern and construction.
- Decoration such as print or embroidery.
- Trims and labels.
- And packing.
Quantity moves the price per piece because cutting and line costs spread across the run. We quote per style from your specification - send a tech pack or even a clear description and photographs, and the quote comes back as a garment price you can plan with, not a range with conditions attached later.
What are your payment terms?
By telegraphic transfer, 40 percent with the order at confirmation and the remaining 60 percent before shipment or after your pre-shipment inspection. We also work by letter of credit - irrevocable, transferable, and payable at sight. The terms for your order are confirmed in writing before production begins, so the schedule you agree is the schedule that runs. The full methods, schedule factors, and document set are on the payment terms page.
Can I get samples before placing an order?
Yes - sampling is how every order here begins. Most buyers start with a development sample made from their tech pack, review fit and construction, then approve a pre-production sample in bulk fabric, which becomes the standard for production. Send the specification you have:
- Tech pack.
- Artwork.
- Size chart.
- Or a reference garment.
And we will tell you plainly if anything is missing. The sample types and steps are described on the sampling process page.
Can you make garments under my own label?
That is the core of what we do. Private label and OEM programmes run with your:
- Woven neck labels.
- Printed labels.
- Hang tags.
- Branded packing.
Fitted during production so the finished garment carries your brand the way your customers expect to see it. Send your label and artwork files with the order; we check them before the labels are woven or printed, so what arrives matches what you approved.
What fabrics do you work with, and can you source them?
Knitwear is our core: cotton and cotton blends for:
- T-shirts.
- Polo shirts.
- Sweatshirts.
- Hoodies.
- Joggers.
Woven production covers shirts, trousers, and denim work. Fabrics are sourced through long-standing mill relationships and inspected here before cutting, so the cloth in your garments is the cloth you approved in sampling. If your programme needs a specific fabric or composition, name it in your inquiry and we will confirm whether we can source it to the standard your market expects.
How long will my order take?
Samples take days; bulk production takes weeks. The honest answer for your order depends on:
- Fabric availability.
- The approval calendar.
- Style complexity.
- Quantity.
Which is why every order is confirmed with its own timeline in writing rather than a number promised on a website. What we can promise is the discipline: the pace-setters are named early, and progress is reported stage by stage. The factors are explained on the production timeline page.
Can I inspect the goods before shipment?
Yes - your inspection, or one by an agency you appoint, is always welcome, and our payment schedule is built to allow it before the balance falls due. Goods are held ready at the agreed inspection point with the order file available, and findings are answered from the record the same day where they can be. Checking also happens throughout production here, as the compliance and quality page describes.
How does shipping work, and to which countries?
Finished orders are packed to your instruction and exported from Bangladesh with the full document set:
- Commercial invoice.
- Packing list.
- Bill of lading on shipment.
We regularly ship to the USA, the UK, Germany, Canada, and Australia, and to other markets on request. Tell us your destination when you inquire, and the packing and paperwork are planned around it from the start rather than arranged at the end.
Two practical points buyers often ask with this one: the documents are prepared against the cartons as packed, so the paperwork and the goods agree when they reach your customs; and if your programme needs a specific document or a particular way of marking cartons for your warehouse or your retail customer, raise it at confirmation stage - it costs nothing to plan then, and a great deal to improvise at the port.
I have never imported clothing before. Where do I start?
With one style and an honest conversation. Send a description of the garment, your quantity, and the market you sell in, and we will walk the route with you - the same steps every buyer follows, set out on the how it works page:
- Quotation.
- Sampling.
- Approval.
- Production.
- Inspection.
- Shipment.
Many of our longest programmes, including knitwear ranges now running season after season in the USA and the UK, began exactly that way: one style, checked carefully, then grown.
What should I send to get an accurate quote?
The more of the garment you can describe, the more exact the price:
- The style and its construction.
- The fabric and its weight.
- Your quantities per colour and size.
- Any print or embroidery with its artwork.
- Your labels and packing.
- And the destination the goods ship to.
A tech pack covers most of it; if you do not have one, clear photographs and a written description still produce a workable quote. The get a quote page lists the full checklist, and anything missing we will ask for by name rather than guess at.
Can I change anything after the order is confirmed?
Small things, early, usually yes - a packing detail, a carton mark, sometimes a size-ratio adjustment before cutting. Structural things, no: fabric, colours, and construction are committed once production begins, because cloth is cut and lines are set to the confirmed order. The honest rule is that changes get harder and costlier the later they arrive, which is why the sampling and approval stages exist - they are the cheap place to change your mind, and we encourage buyers to use them fully.
How do repeat orders work?
Simpler than first orders. Your approved samples, size charts, labels, and packing instruction are all on file, so a repeat goes back into production against the same sealed standard without re-sampling from the beginning - most buyers re-approve only if something in the style has changed. Repeats are also where programmes grow: colours are added, sizes extended, and quantities built season by season on a garment both sides already know.
Can I visit the factory before ordering?
Yes, and you are welcome to. A visit shows you:
- The sample room.
- The cutting and sewing floors.
- Finishing and packing.
- And the desks where your order would be run.
On an ordinary working day, not a staged one. Write through the contact page with your dates in Dhaka and we will arrange the walk around what you most want to check. The factory tour page describes what a visit covers.
Still Weighing It Up?
If you are comparing factories, compare answers. Send the same specification to us and to any other maker, and judge the replies by how specific they are: a factory that quotes from your actual garment, names its minimums plainly, and puts its terms in writing is a factory describing how it works. A factory that answers every question with a superlative and no number is describing its advertising.
To start, collect your styles in the inquiry basket or send the details through the get a quote page - and if you would rather see the floor first, the factory tour page shows how a visit works. A buyer in Germany recently told us the deciding factor was simply that every answer matched the sample when it arrived. That is the standard these answers are written to, and the standard your order will be run to as well.
